It's on! Who has Wordcount already?

Not me! My computer is broken. Yaaaaay. Well, the screen, anyway. I can use it if I plug into the TV, which I can only do in the wee hours of the morning or night, because I can't do anything with the whole fams watching over my shoulder. I'm still planning on doing this JaNo thing though! I will just pull up my trusty Open Office on the TV and then go type in my room, dark-style. Less chance of editing that way!

Unfortunately, I may not be able to commit to daily posts. Please feel free to jump in and do them if you're around!

It also looks like I might not be able to participate in as many sprints as I'd hoped. Hopefully the mods won't mind if I hang out in the chatzy room even if no official sprints are going. I expect to get online time either before 7-8 am (I'm central time, an hour behind EST) or from 10-12 pm. So I'll be around if anyone wants to write together!

Haven't started my project, Neon Giraffe, yet. Been catching up on my posts & emails, but I'm about to go get cracking. I figure out the new wordcount (extra day, legitimate YAY!) & had planned to make a calendar, but not sure when I'll get to that. Today's goal is 1613 (I round up).

Happy Noveling!

I haven't started and don't know when I'll be able to. The computer I have at the moment is crap and doesn't even have a writing program on it. I'm hoping to find a laptop soon but I don't know when that will be. :(

I just got home with a brand new laptop, but thank you! I'll bookmark that.

Openoffice has been more or less replaced by LibreOffice. It's the same software, but after Oracle took over Sun they tried to make OpenOffice private. But a bunch of hackers with the previous still-free version of the software renamed it LibreOffice and continued development, completely legitimately. After all, many of them were the maintainers of OpenOffice before Oracle too over. Eventually Oracle gave up, because their paid team of developers couldn't keep up with the volunteers. So if you want to try OpenOffice, now you're better off with LibreOffice.

I'm at 2858, so off to a decent start! Hoping to get about 3.5 or 4K by the end of the day. Good luck everyone!

Current wordcount is 2,502 -- feeling quite tired so I'm taking a break, might write more this evening. Based on upper estimates of plotting to wordcount I'm about where I'd expect to be.

I'll be starting work on this later. I'm actually going to use the time to edit the Nov. NaNo story (still untitled... go figure) and try to get into the habit of writing at least 2 hours a day. So far today: zero hours writing. I'm usually best at night, say around 9 or 10p - midnight in whatever time zone I happen to be in. This month, most of it will be PST. I too will try to be in chatzy even if no sprints are going on, so feel free to say hi if I'm there. =)

1040 words in my one hour writing session this morning. I'm trying to focus on setting aside time each day to write scenes (not brainstorm, research or stream of consciousness plotting) so that I maintain a year long habit. I've set aside the hour after breakfast and the hour before bedtime since my brain is more primed for fiction near sleep. I'll see how long this lasts!

Sadly I have the flu right now, so I've had to delay my attempt for a couple of days until I get better. No worries because I'm sure I can catch up to pace by the weekend.

i didn't get to write on my book...but I did get nearly 2500 words of an rp fic done that i needed to submit today. I then got caught up in making donuts with my daughter...then dinner...then fixing my roomie's TV (twice)...now I'm chilling and trying to get my head focused again. I can dive in tomorrow morning, I hope...although its work tomorrow which will be crazy after a week and a half off. *sigh*
Still participating...just off to a slow start!

Where I live it's possible to get almost free CRT TVs at the Salvation Army store. They don't work well, so test them in the store for channel 3 or 4 or so.

Or get a used Alphasmart from Ebay.

Or join freecycle. Lots of people are giving away old CRT TVs when they upgrade to plasme or whatever. Set a TV up in your room and the fam won't have to look over your shoulder.
