I would encourage all members of [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo to take a few moments to re-familiarize yourself with the rules. They're conveniently posted in a sticky post near all exists.

Also please fasten your seatbelts and put your trays in an upright position, leaving all electronic devices off as we continue this journey into NaNoLand.

There are rumors circulating that LJ is trying to turn into Tumblr - not an exaggeration. There is a leaked site preview that will go live in the spring and they announced to their russian base that they're doing away with paid account and paid account benefits.

I don't know what next year will bring for us here.

We have no intention on leaving at this point. (I say we even though I'm really the only owner here anymore, but I feel better saying we.) However, if things become unusable or if everyone jumps ship, I wanted to reserve a place for THIS community to go elsewhere online.

I created a dreamwidth. Unfortunately nanowrmio was taken and is an unused community that hasn't been written in in over 190 months - sigh, so I did the next best name: http://nanowrimo-lj.dreamwidth.org/

You're welcome to join or bookmark that in case we need it for next year. That will be the official community, IF we leave.

And we're not planning on it yet, but I like to be well, well, well prepared.

We're not going to do anything with it now, so if you join don't expect updates over on your dreamwidth, but as a friend, as your friend and community leader, I want to urge you to grab a name on dreamwidth you like, if possible, because LJ might very well not last another year.

We are also on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/356974337727721/ I understand if you don't want your real name known, but might I make a suggestion? Make a facebook for joining that if you don' wish to use your real name. I understand that's an issue for some people. I just want to maintain communication with all of you.

thank you. What a crummy thing to throw at us, lj, hours before our nanowrimo, but we must be prepared.

Gooooooooooooood morning!

Okay, nobody panic, but I just have to say this: The next mod note I write will be NaNotime.

Less than a week people, less than a week. I hope you're ready! (Cause I'm not!)

I hope that you're enjoying this pre-nano time. It's always filled with so much excitement and hope for the future! This is the time to feed off the excitement of your peers and get fired up, so that you can be ready to tackle that novel when it comes and fight for it! Woo hoo!

Just know this, and I mean every word, the very fact that you're even entering this endeavor tells me that you are a person of great courage and creativity. You are someone who isn't afraid to dream and dream big. I also think that you're a doer. And you will finish this novel, but in the case that you don't? In the case that life gets in the way and you just don't reach your goal: know this, you attempted. You entered the race. You went farther than all the people who just sit around their whole lives and wish they could live their dream. You chose to live it. Do not EVER forget that.

Live.

In November you're going to see some more faces (icons?) showing up here to help me run this place as well as seeing them host sprints in our lovely chatzy room (*cough* shameless plug*) or just around helping out. They're wonderful, kind, witty, and giving up many hours of valuable writing time to help us all get our novels done.

They deserve our respect, kindness, and appreciation.

Later on, I'm going to post some basic rules on how to behave during sprints and how to help the mods run clean rooms, but that's not what today is for. Today, I want to introduce you to my crew. These are some of the craziest, wildest, weirdest, and most wonderful people you will ever meet this side of of NaNoWrimo and most of them humored me in answering 20 questions about themselves and NaNo.

Take some time and read some of their responses and get to know them. We are here to serve and help you. We're ready to take on this challenge. I hope you come along with us.

Good morning, afternoon, evening, night, whatever!

It's hard to believe that another week of October is gone, pushed away with rain and wind, but it has and we are one step closer to our goal: winning NaNoWrimo.

I hope you're working on preparing for your story, or at the very least have one character picked out and some kind of scenario to put them in. However, if you have yet to figure ANYTHING out, have no fear because we at [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo and [livejournal.com profile] allyear_sprints have things on the horizon to help you with that.

Let's dive right in and break it all down for you, yo. (If you knew me in real life, you'd find that yo a whole lot more hysterical than it actually is.)

Community Feedback Form - Give us your tired, huddled masses and thoughts on how to improve this community.

Community Discussion: - we started a new daily post for community discussion with various topics. Thus far, we've talked about NaNoing with special circumstances and how to create characters. Follow the discussion tag to stay up to date.

As the mod of [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo, I'm busy working on what all needs to get posted here during November and prior. What I need from you, because a community is only as great as its members and this is a GREAT community, is what would you like see here to help you out? I have my list, but rather than telling you guys what I've come up with, I want to hear your ideas.
