So I'm off to an amazing start (unlike previous years where it took me half the day to reach my 1667 words). I hope everyone else is doing well too! I'm so pumped and have good feelings about this year! (and almost missed taking my pill because of noveling! What a story to tell the next generation :P)

The reason for this post: what other months feature the kind of writing contest like NaNo? I know there is April Fools writing contest, and something about Script Frenzy I heard? Is there a kind of comprehensive list I can find? They seem to be scattered all over the net.

Script Frenzy (http://www.scriptfrenzy.org) is the other Office of Letters and Light challenge, from April 1-30.

I don't know about a comprehensive list, though. :)

One of the earliest such writing challenges I ever tried was the Three-Day Novel Contest (http://www.3daynovel.com/). You think the NaNo is tough, man, try doing that! Heh.

Still, I got seven chapters done, the one time I did it. And did eventually finish the novel, and am trying to get it published. So you never know where these things will lead.

December has NaNoFiMo, Fi meaning Finishing, with a 30k word count target. You can finish your NaNo from December, whether you got to 50 or not, or work on another unfinished story. (It's ideal for all those people who are disappointed to find out you have to start fresh for NaNoWriMo!)

I did FiMo last year to finish my NaNo novel, which was a bit epic.

It's not exactly what you asked for, but there's also NaNoEdMo (http://www.nanoedmo.net/xoops2/), in which, through the month of March, you spend 50 hours editing your NaNo from the previous year.

Southern Cross Novel Challenge (aka SoCNoC) over at kiwiwriters.org is basically Nanowrimo in June. It's still 50,000 words, but the site sets less rules. Basically, you can continue a novel you were already working on, or write 5 short stories, or whatever you want, as long as you write 50,000 words in one month.
