This is what bracket notes are made for. I put it in a bracket note, keep writing, and then when I hit a break point I go back and see if I can fudge or if I need to look it up.

Usually I try to outline so I don't have to do this, writing the scene-by-scene, asking what things I'd need to know to do that scene, and answering them. This works... somewhat well.
