Panic Time! How are you guys doing?

Regardless of where you are we now have less than 48 hours until the official start of NaNoWriMo.

It is officially panic crunch time.

Are you ready? What type of last minute preparations are you doing? (if any)

Better yet, what type of shiny things have you found to help you procrastinate getting ready? Have you spent hours that were meant to be for plotting cruising tvtropes? Get online intending to research and plot but instead went on omegle to troll strangers? Or have you just sat down to start planning when... oh man... you suddenly feel so hungry and snackish that you have the odd desire to bake a cake!

I have FINALLY decided on a plot and even have it somewhat outlined, which is a definite first for me as far as NaNo is concerned.

Additionally, I have a NaNoBackPack, which I need to take a picture of later today. It contains:
- my netbook (loaded with the Scrivener beta!) and charger, as well as several different types of USB cables for charging things
- my headphones for when I need to shut out the world
- my writing binder (it's got paper, pens, and also holds my copy of "No Plot, No Problem!" as well as a short article on "How to Write a Successful Story" I found years ago)
- My Inception shooting script (it's kind of my totem, shut up)
- and Cobb Zombie (http://i55.tinypic.com/4in4op.jpg), threat to all Inner Editors everywhere! He threatens to eat Her brains if She doesn't shut up, and mine if I don't write!

I've found Scrivener to be indispensable when it comes to organizing plot ideas and notes for my novel; I'm so glad it's finally coming out for Windows.

Additionally, since I am iPod-less, my phone is filled with my favorite instrumental CDs (and some of my favorite vocal CDs too, just in case) to put me in the mood to write whenever and wherever. I'm okay. For now.

Double win for the Inception references.

Also, what is Scrivener?

So glad you caught them both. ♥

Scrivener (http://literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.html) is a writing software that was previously only available for Mac. They've released a public beta for Windows just in time for NaNoWriMo, so I thought I'd try it out. It's gotten rave reviews for being one of the best writing softwares out there.

O.O Looks complicated just from the picture. Also, I am a Taurus and a creatue of habit, change does not come easily. It sounds interesting, but I panic on the inside when I consider moving from Word to anything else. ::flailflail:: So I will consider, and probably try it in five years or so. >.>

Haha, that's understandable.

I'm always interested in trying new things (is that an Aries quality? I have no idea), but I know I have Word to fall back on should the beta explode on me. (*knock on wood*)

also, *gigglesnort* at your icon. I love that fanart. You're in the fandom aren't you? I recognize your LJ name.

This icon has inspired crack!fic the world over. :D

I'm not sure it's so much of a "yay, new things!" for Aries as it is more of a "try everything and if it explodes I still have the old things" ... er... thing. ^_^

I might be in the fandom. Depends on who wants to know. >.> <.< I didn't do nothin'! Except perhaps commit the sin of fic, but I have it on good authority that this is a sin easily forgiven.

That is a perfect description of how things work in my brain. Yay!

And you ARE in the fandom. *shines giant spotlight on you* I've read some of your fic! I'm just a lowly lurker who has nothing to contribute (yet). >_>

Why, hello, Arthur. :D You're looking angry and dapper this morning.

GAH! ::flees spotlight:: I knew I should have remained a lurker!

But, uh, yay for reading my fic! :D

Hehe, you're welcome.

Also, mind if I add you? I could always use more writing buddies.

I do not mind at all. I'll probably add you back, too. :D

Thank you! I got him from work, and he came inside this awesome mug (http://i56.tinypic.com/qzggmh.jpg) which I imagine will house my caffeine for the month.

Speaking of which, I think I need some coffee.

OMG! Where did you get that?!? I want. (drools stupidly). Awesome.

[identity profile] jacquise.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe! I work at a Barnes and Noble and some of our Halloween Gift stuff was zombie-related. Like, there was a much larger version of the zombie plush that came with candy, but he sold out before I could get him.

I HAD to have the mug though. Especially since my mug from last year had broken about a week before.
