Bowing Out

At a lousy 4539 words, my muse has abandoned me. Ah well, next year it is.

Ta!

And now you're abandoning your muse.

Keep going. Forget the word-count. Just write!

I feel the same at 3000-something words.

I am barely at that. It doesn't mean you give up. You may get a burst of inspiration and then get out the rest in no time. Keep trying and never give up. You can do it.

You totally still have a chance. Now's your chance to stick it in your muse's eye and write CRAP for the next two weeks without penalty.

On the other hand, you can now make your novel a whole collection of awesome scenes that make absolutely no sense and torture your muse's soul to the point that s/he/it'll come back to your crawling to make it all make sense.

Somehow.

xD; I love your icon. Somehow Emilie Autumn being a source of inspiration for NaNo fits perfectly.

To switch genres for a moment

Never GIve Up! Never Surrender!

I'm definitely not even at that many yet (but almost there!) but I'm still going. I really like my plot, though, so maybe that helps. I'm just counting on Thanksgiving break to save my ass...

You sure you want to bow out? One of my jobs here starts around now, helping people find ways to get their muse back. I tend to be a good brainstormer.

What's going on in the plot? Let's see if we can find out the issue and fix it. If anything, just keep writing until the end of the month.

What can I do to help?

Maybe the power goes out in the MC's apartment? Her pet runs away? Toilet overflows? Just something stupid to jolt her out of her drunken stupor, maybe. I'm only at 3k myself, but every time I want to give up I read something here that makes me want to give it another shot :)

I feel your pain; I, too, at slightly over 10k am bowing out of this years NaNo. I just had way too much stuff going on. I've had company in and out of my apartment all month so far and then next week starts the holidays. I also work retail so, well, I'm working a lot the next few weeks as well.

But if you can find a way to continue, I'll be cheering for you.
