*headdesk*

OKay, I was right on track with my novel until Wednesday. I had my word count right where it needed to be. Then I didn't get a chance to write on Wednesday or Thursday.

So now I'm really behind and I've got this idea to rewrite the entire thing using the same characters and plot, just in a different style.

So what do I do? Stick with my old version or work on the new version or write both and decide in December and decide which I like better?

Any ideas?

I would just pick up where you left off, but with your new style. Worry about consistency after November, or at the very least after you're caught up.

I second that.

Since editing happens in December, I'd keep your word-count and move forward from here in the new style. You know you're going to tweak the story later, and you won't sacrifice the word-count, especially since you're content with your plot and your characters.

Don't feel bad. I only FINALLY got my first chapter done at 2,773 words. I'd ended up having to give up on the story that I WAS going to use when I just couldn't get nothin' for it. Yay. I'm only 8 days and 8,000 words behind. Meep!

Highlight all the text and turn it white. Better than deleting because the word count still counts 'em but you don't have to look at it. Carry on writing from there.

And/or shunt them all to the end under an appendix titled "deleted scenes" or something like that. Again, keep the numbers but it's kind of like getting a fresh start again.

Don't delete it. Instead, turn it white or strike it out like what someone else said and continue in your new style. Also, you can rewrite the beginning from scratch in the new style if you get writer's block later--just don't delete the old part! It's something you've written this month and therefore can be added to your word count.
