Is anyone else getting into the bad habit of checking their word count every few sentences? :P

Oh hell I have Word 2007 so sometimes I'm checking my word count WHILE I'm counting!

[identity profile] ionicaq.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Me too, it just sits there waiting for you to look at it...

[identity profile] rookie131.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I've been forcing myself to wait for a few paragraphs to check. I was slowing myself down by getting so obsessed with checking.

Guilty!

[identity profile] glamourtastic.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
guilty as charged, i'm afraid

[identity profile] highmagemaxwell.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much every time I finish a paragraph ~_~

Sometimes, every few words.

[identity profile] trenchcoatedson.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I always do that, LOL.

"OH MAN HOW MANY DID I WRITE...

)8

... only 10 words, damn."

Just did it before switching over to check LJ..bad me.

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Don't feel too bad. I do that too. If I'm not writing or checking wordcount or lj I'm playing solitare trying to get new inspiration.

I write in OneNote, so... I have to copy and paste the words into Word.

I try to write enough to make it worth that effort.

But yes, I did it last year.

[identity profile] zxora.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha...I thought I would, but I only seem to check and update it every time I feel there's a solid pause in my novel--if you'd call it a novel, haha.

I've got myself down to only checking at the end of every page. I was checking at the end of every paragraph, but it was slowing me down. Still, trying to not look is hard!

[identity profile] falsesclera.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha yes, I was just doing this like two seconds ago.

[identity profile] wolfdaughter.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I refused to look during my first session last night and hit 2.2k words without it. Tonight, I kept checking and I slowed down a lot, so I'm only going to check at the end of a session. Yes, I have time blocked every night for Nano; if I didn't do that I wouldn't write. :S

It's one of my worst habits even when I'm not trying to meet a word count.

[identity profile] beautyandbanana.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
That is definitely me.

[identity profile] ilexx.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
hell yes!

[identity profile] ohendless-night.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
yep.. usually every few paragraphs.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_effervescent/ 2008-11-03 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
It's the only way to go, haha

[identity profile] agent-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I'm using yWriter, which displays the word count at the bottom of the screen automatically, so...I check it a lot.

[identity profile] lacrimaeveneris.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha, me too! I was going to say it in a new comment if someone hadn't already. It updates EVERY TIME YOU SAVE.

[identity profile] syntheticjesso.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
If I'm tired, I check a lot, but most of the time I don't.

I've made it a rule for myself that when I'm doing word wars, I can't check my word count until time is up. Most weekends, I spend the day warring with myself (like today (http://syntheticjesso.livejournal.com/718104.html)) so I'll start of an album or playlist in iTunes and go until it's over. It's a lot of fun :D

[identity profile] syntheticjesso.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Also, I should mention that I dared my friend to never check her word count, except once on every Saturday.

[identity profile] stringdancegirl.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
lol, yep, that's me. I'm trying very hard not to, but it's not exactly working.

[identity profile] kilobites.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, mine shows it at the bottom of the page, so...

OT!

[identity profile] zxora.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, your icon...I love it!

[identity profile] sansele.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
*whistles* I have no clue what you're talking about.

*checks word count*

[identity profile] lizzy-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
sadly... *averts eyes*

[identity profile] lemon-m.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
... yes :(

Normally I got 100 word without checking.

[identity profile] lemon-m.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Dear God, what happened to my grammar?
