Hey, I'm Alyson. Yes, this is my first time trying this out. So, call me a 'newbie', because I am one. [ Just not proud of it. -.-; ] I have plots, characters, the whole enchilada, but what I don't know is what to do with them. So, when I saw a recommendation of this community on another LiveJournal, I thought that this could be a good place to put those stories out. So.. Here I am; clueless as air, with only one thought in mind.. 'How am I going to do this?'

[ Help, I need it desperately.. Well, just what to do here. ]

Hey all. I'm a second-time WriMo this year (sadly, not a winner), though I skipped last year. I'm planning on going into it completely empty. I'm pondering a plot, but I don't know if I'm going to go with it or not. So I'm just wondering... How many more of you other WriMos are going in plot and character free?

I've come up with a title for my nano, and beyond that, I refuse to think any further about the plot!

But the title is:

The Secret Society of Mrs. McPherson's Grody Toenails

It's a children's book.

Hey, first-time Nanoer here, who is incredibly intimidated by the whole idea, since its also my first year of university. I'm sort of hovering between two plotlines here...

1) A civilization not unlike the ancient Mayans whose religion is their life and revolves around spiders. They may or may not have certain traits/characteristics of spiders or be sort of quasi-human with spideriness. The plot would revolve around an explorer from another race of quasi-human spiders, only he's of the garden-variety spiders whereas the people he's meeting are along the lines of tarantulas.

2) A boy who has a mental illness and lives almost constantly in a dream world of his own imaginings which is kind of like a high fantasy world, but everything is slightly twisted so that it's not right. Think of kittens with eight legs and mandibles, or angels who are mute. He thinks he's on a quest to find a safe place away from his family, who are hunting him down because they think he's a freak....for whatever reason.

I'm really not sure which one I should go with, but I'm leaning towards number two because it has an actual plot line. But I'm not an expert on mental diseases or hallucinations, so....neither am I an expert on spiders, though. I don't even like spiders. XD Help would be much appreciated.

In an effort to um, revive it i'd thought i'd mention that there is a community for the people writing about homosexual relations/gay characters, fittingly named [livejournal.com profile] queernano. Please come and breath life into it darlings.

Uhm, yeah, throwing down plot ideas for my nano, and as I do it, I realize, for my heaven/pantheon/asgard/etc focused comedy/drama, The Infinite Grimoire isn't the best of titles.

Suggestions?

Anyone else have a project blog for Nanowrimo?

I made one ([livejournal.com profile] tanelos) last summer for my writing project, and my entire entry for Nanowrimo 2004 (really the first 8 chapters of a 100000-word book) is posted there.
I've been adding notes for the second part of the book (the last 7 chapters), and will be making filters for the text, images, and notes.
If you'd like to be added, feel free to comment on the first entry.

Today, I also created a sister community on GreatestJournal for the convenience of one of my friends who made a lot of 3-D CGI models for my characters using Poser. If you have a GJ, the community name is onyxgolem.

Hi everyone!

The more I think about my original plot, the more I realize how childish it is. I came up with the idea when I was seven or eight, maybe younger. That might explain it. It's really complex, and would involve a lot of explanation for nearly everything. Thankfully, lots of explanation means lotsa words. These together = Good thing.

It's about a Princess who gets kicked out of home for the wrong reasons, ends up falling in love with a "bad" guy and fighting for the throne with her minutes-older half-sister at the event of their father's death. It involves multiple countries, cultures, political threats/talks, and has multiple themes such as "love will prevail," and "sometimes the most unsavory characters can be your best allies." The whole thing is really more substantial than that, but this is condensed so much that's it's definitely Campbell's soup worthy. 50k doable, however. Easily. I have 20+ "scenes" in my head, plus all of the backstory and histories that I can write. I have already written a few things down in my other NaNo IC journals.

Here's the big(!!!) but...

I have two other possible ideas in my mind, neither of which are as developed as the above is. These two have evolved into stories that have earned me A+'s in my English classes, though they are quite short. I don't consider them cheating on NaNo whatsoever.

The first is about a futurish human underwater colony (think like the Gungans in Star Wars), where the MC is a scientist, or maybe just a civilian, that must figure out why the orbs are breaking. It would involve peril, death, and lots of swimming. I could maybe reach 50k, but probably not.

The second is about a woman, a twin. I have a fascination with twins, and the number two always pops up in my writing. But anyway, the older twin (Audrey) wants the younger twin (Mia) to impersonate her at Audrey's best friend's wedding. For some unknown reason, Mia agrees and has a hard time, both with being "married" to a Republican Senator who's in the scopes for the next Presidential campaign and being submersed in hoity-toity society (she's an earthy, very liberal/green party sort of person). There is a big fiasco with Mia meeting another man, whom she ends up with at the resolution (you can see the scandal - a senator's wife caught with another man! Big bad OMG!). I really like this story, and it would definitely make 50k.

So, uh, please help. And if anyone wants, I can post the expanded plot for the very first story, though it's probably going to go in my journal anyway.

Which do you think I should do?

I plan on writing a story based VERY loosely on a cruddy novel I wrote about nine years ago, when I was eleven. This idea I have now has the same main character...but a completely warped story. I am SO ready to start writing. I can't believe it's almost November. Ahhh! Anyone else ready to go?

So I'm not sure how to write my novel... the format.

I was thinking of writing it through the diary of Demetrius (MC) but I'm not all too sure...

Diaries can be pretty fun to read. but... I'm not sure.

Anyone got input?

This is my first year of Nano, and I have a bit of a problem already! How can you find such a huge chunk of time each day to write? Most days I'm sure I can make time (inbetween/during classes, instead of LJing and myspacing so much, write) but I already know I'll be busy some weekends.
I just made plans to spend one weekend in November with my friend, but then I thought, that'll put me behind, won't it? And just in case anyone was about to suggest it, NO, I am not doing NaNo while visiting my awesome friend whom I haven't seen in over a year.
Some other weekend in November my college prep class is going to Knotts and I don't want to miss that becuase we're going to have the park all to ourselves.
And then I have homework, lots of it.
And tutor.
And clubs.
And other stuff.
OMG WHAT HORRIBLE SADISTIC PERSON MADE THIS THING A MONTH LONG???? -dies-

So...basically my question is, does it take a lot of time to do NaNo?

I made these calenders for NaNoWriMo today. I haven't seen any around yet so I figured I give it a go. They were a lot of work but I enjoyed doing them.

All images used are my own photos, taken specially for this project.
Please Enjoy!

Hi, this is the first I have heard about this NaNo event, and well...I love to write! So I am going to attempt at it :3. Yay~ (Sorry, I am really tired right now ^^;;;).

The title for my story is: Uncovered: The Life of Ms. Smith.
Summary:

A girl named Rachel Smith lives in plush wealth in Beverly Hills, CA One day, she wanders up to the attic for cleaning, when she finds a box full of old pictures and papers in weird writing. Digging deeper into the pile of boxes, she finds old visas from Germany leading her to believe that her family is holding a secret, one that could ruin everything the family has made for themselves.

So, does it sound cliche?
Argh, I have to sleep @_@.
