I'm writing free hand, am almost 8000 words short, haven't written anything today yet and start to think it's impossible to catch up at this point. But I'm not giving up yet. Because on the other hand, I don't think I've ever written that much in such a short period of time, and that alone makes me happy.

(Oh, and here's my NaNoWriMo tag, over at Dreamwidth. I'm updating it every morning about how writing was on the day before. It's really whiny right now, with occassional squee *lol*)

Help!

Last night, I churned out my story, just to give my characters some closure.

I am less than 5000 words away from winning. But I ran out of story!

Does anybody have tips on how to fluff things up? (If it helps, the story happens on a celebrity dating show - I know, I know - and I've written quite a few 'interview' sections.)

Help!

A while ago, a friend pointed me to Deadline Dames, a group blog from nine published women.  Today's post on word count goals is quite relevant for anyone doing NaNoWriMo or any other NaNo-style event, so I figured I'd mention it here.  It does indeed work - when I am not feeling in the writing mood, I tend to do something similar to what she suggests.

Today someone made a post about varying word counts due to different programs. Curious, I tested mine and here were the results:

NaNo Site: 18,432
Scrivener: 18,403
Cut&Paste Word Counter: 18,033
Wordcounttool.com: 18,841
NeoOffice: 18,840

What do you make of this? Is your word count varying like this? Right now, all I know is my word count is between 18,000 and 18,800, which is a pretty big leap. Any suggestions?
