A lot of people have mentioned putting thier novel online or posting it on LJ.
Here's a quick tip I didn't know myself until just recently:
If something has been posted on the internet for anyone to have access to and read, then technically that counts as a publishing. If you're not planning to do anything with your novel after NaNo and just want your friends to read it that's just fine.
However, if you're considering trying to get your novel published and submitting it, if it's been posted on the internet then they count it has having already been published and won't buy it.
Just so you know. :-)
I hope that helps someone.
