I think I hate the tone of my book. It's completely my fault. I'm not sure what I'm doing. When things get really serious, I'm tempted to put a lot of swear words in that scene, whether people are saying it out loud or in their thoughts. But that doesn't seem to fit with the other scenes, so I haven't been writing them in, just thinking them.
Also, I've written far more at the this point then I have last year at this point. I'm taking this as a good sign. I'm not sure of my exact plot though, so I have characters showing up that I have no idea about. Seriously. I'll be typing away and the next thing I know there's a little girl running through the door for a hug. Then I have to stop and figure out where the girl came from. It's crazy.
Right now, the scene is really dark. Violent to a degree. At the moment it doesn't really fit with the tone of the rest of the story. I keep flipping back and forth between three different . . . varieties? I have no idea.
I probably shouldn't worry about it now, but it's starting to bother me. Anyone else having similar problems?
