I just had the second-worst non-zero writing day I've had so far.

I fell far short (again) on my daily target, and am just barely on track total-words-wise (but that's only because I had built up a nice safety margin, prior to the last couple of days).

My next chapter deadline is tomorrow, and I've only barely started it.

I know how I want this chapter to end, but I have no idea how to get there.

I'm feeling uninspired and even starting to find myself looking for excuses to avoid writing, which is not good.

Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is doing better!

To be honest I'm worried. It's not that I think that I can't get the story finished. It's that I'm worried I'll get it finished before hitting 50K. I'm more than a bit behind in words (I'll get them all made up this weekend so I'm not worried about that, yippie for Thanksgiving break!!!) but I'm rapidly approaching my climax, and my characters are pushing for the climax to come.

When I get the climax done I might have no choice but to go back and edit with the intention of fleshing out words and making the more detailed discriptions. 'sigh' I'm worried that I'll end up about 5,000 words short. 'sigh'

Okay I'm done thinking about the problem time to act and see if it can figure itself out. I hope.

I have stalled out mid-scene. My brain has shut down from exhaustion in an attempt to preserve itself. I plead, I cajole, I whip and prod, but my mind will not cough up any further text for the nano. I need to finish this scene to keep on track with my schedule so I can finish this sucker before December 1st -- utter dren or not. This thing turned out to be so much longer than I ever suspected. It's about 10,500 words short of being the longest single story I've ever written.

Congratulations to everyone I see finishing both wordcount and plot! I envy all you whose stories have found sufficient closure so you can type 'The End.'

I feel completely incoherent, so I'm sorry if I'm not making sense!

Woo....so, I just did a little over 10,000 words in one night. I'm not up early- I'm *still* up. I stared writing at about 2am and haven't stopped. So now I'm:

Hmm...wouldn't it be awesome if I won after all?

About 64% done... at this rate, I think I need to do about 3,000 words a day to meet the deadline. At most, I've been doing 2,000 words a day.
This story is going to get done, and it's probably going to be at least 50,000 words long... but I'm not so sure about making the deadline anymore. **crosses fingers**

Well, that's the official counter, and it's a little off from my Word word-count of 36,032. I think I'll stick with Word, that way I know I'll be over by anyone's count.

Either way, I have 2000 words a day to finish by the skin of my teeth. And I made a decision last night, that is that I will finish. If I can't think of anything to write, I'll just have my Queen get bored and have a servant read Gilgamesh to her. Hey, it's old enough to be public domain . . .

Since I started NaNo, my dreams at night have become very, VERY vivid, much more so than usual. I think that this might be caused by one of two things:

(a) NaNo has unlocked the creative side of my brain and it's going wild. Since during the day I have to visualize the scenes I'm writing in detail, my brain doesn't know how to turn this off while I sleep, or

(b) Someone's been slipping me low doses of peyote when I'm not looking.

Has anyone else been having night after night of super-realistic dreams, or is it just me?

What have I gotten myself into? Never has my icon been so true... the clock really is laughing at me. I planned out a calendar and if I want to stick to it and actually finish - I have to write 7,000 words today! Ahh! I'm going to have to set something on fire to make 7,000 words! Visiting a hospital to see a baby just doesn't make for that much! Argh why did I start late? Someone encourage me, please...

...why do people keep on creating insane numbers of NaNo communities? Why do we need so much redundancy in communities anyways? [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo clearly and elegantly states its purpose and provides a neat and tidy community for us all to post our NaNo thoughts and experiences, so what inspired people to create [livejournal.com profile] 1667words, [livejournal.com profile] nano04, etc...?

I mean, I could really understand if they had an alternate purpose to them, for instance, organizing all the NaNoers from a given location, but their goal is the same as that of the long-standing [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo community.

It just seems utterly fragmented and silly to me. Thoughts?

Really, anyone who can give me a plausible answer... please help! The situation: My novel (still bearing its original, oh-so-ironically sedate title Knitting) has gone horribly wrong. One of my characters has been raped and murdered. My questions:

1) What sort of a sentence might one expect in, say, New York (or any state in the Northeast US, I'm not picky and am open to changing my location...) for this kind of crime? Would the fact that the perpetrator had the foresight to bring a sharpened knife from his own kitchen make it definitely murder?

2) Let's assume that this person wasn't quite himself. Let's say he'd been taking physician-prescribed medication for mild depression, say an SSRI, and that it just totally didn't agree with him and that's why he had turned into an aggressive, jealous type of person. (Trust me, people, I did NOT see this coming!) If shown to be the case, could this result in his going to a mental institution of some sort, rather than prison?

Aaaargh. I hate it when a minor character decides they want to be the center of attention. He's like the neglected stepchild. "Bet you can't ignore me any more if I do this! Or *this*! Haha! Now look who's hurting!"

My head is.
