I installed that TextPro thingie, and it started throwing errors as well.
So, I'm using the split window in MS Word suggestion.

I've just had to collate my files into one large file.
This is not going to be anywhere near as easy for me, but it'll have to do.

I think my computer's being naffy.
I know it needs a complete OS reinstall, but I'd decided to do that AFTER NaNo!

Stupid thing!

Okay, so I've been using an Excel sheet for Nano to keep track of my progress, and when I put info in for day 12, it went haywire and is erroring on me.

Does anyone have a FULLY FUNCTIONING Excel chart that I may snag?

Thanks you in advance!

Since the WC post was missing for yesterday, I wanted to get on with making this one early! Post those word counts and colour bars, as per usual. :)

In my novel, I need to think of some really scary scary evil thing for my heroine to try to triumph over. Zombies scare the daylights out of me. Like I feel like hyperventilating if I think of them too much. I need some advice....

Should I either

a) write about the zombies because they scare me so much and use the fear I feel and put it in my book even though I might be inflicting psychological damage on myself

b) write about something else because maybe zombies aren't horrifyingly scary to people other than me and what I write will just end up looking silly and contrived

and if option B is picked, what other scary evil thing can you think of for a small chubby heroine with no magical powers but lots of gumption to tackle?

my word count is about a week behind, i think i'm at around 12,000 words at the moment. (i know, there's no hope for me) but i am curious, where are we "supposed" to be as of today, approximately? my report card says i need to write ~2k to catch up by the end of the month. i'm wondering if i can attempt it in a few days.
thanks :)

I demand musical inspiration. So here's the request:

Post a comment with five songs, either your favourite five songs, or the five greatest songs ever written (I know, these two are generally the same, but, whatever. ;p)

So, you get to procrastinate, and I get to research some new tunes. It's a win-win situation. ;p

I have not written a single word of my novel since Wednesday. I've been tired, cranky, busy and working on college applications and homework nonstop. I'm at 16K (which was the WC I needed for Wednesday, haha). I really think I can write the more than 2000 words I need each day IF I don't have other stuff to do (I can probably write up to 5000 on a good day), but real life is so distracting! Plus, I just had my internet taken away (I'm sneaking on when I'm home alone), and it's really depressing having to slog along by myself. Any words of encouragement?

Roger McGough was interviewed in yesterday's Guardian, and the article mentioned a poem I thought rather apt for the stage I'm at with NaNo. It reads:

Things are so bad
I am reduced to scraping
The outside of the barrel.

I'm over 21,000 now - which is passable - but I'm almost running out of backstory and dream sequences to fill in until I get to the big denouement, which I hope to start in about 14,000 words.

Anyone else have any NaNo-inspiring poetry?
