Hi all, congratulations to those who won, and to those who accomplished all strived-for writing goals this year!
This is my first year in NaNoWriMo, and while I am nowhere near my word count goal, it has been wonderful accomplishment to be a part of a supportive, encouraging community.

:)

HELP!!!!

Sickness, family issues, work craziness, etc. has prevented me from getting even 20k done by today. It's my third NaNo and the worst I've done on word count, BUT with the best idea/planning ever. I'm hoping to continue to write it until the story is finished, even after November is over.

Is anyone else in a similar sticky situation? Wanna be writing buddies so we can encourage each other? Any advice from others who have had this happen before?!

Hey there, everyone:

I really don't mean to be a brat, but I was wondering if it would be possible for us all to create one thread to consolidate "OMG I WONZ!!11!ONE!" threads. I work full time, and have family obligations besides, so it's starting to seriously grate on my nerves when I sign onto my flist and am flooded with several posts that all sound exactly the same in sentiment.

We could have one giant celebration thread, with confetti, plot discussion, what to do with them now, etc. That way people like me won't have to consider dropping their watch of the comm at the last minute due to flooding, but everyone can still celebrate, too. ^^

More writing, more writing... agony! agony!

Can I actually write down 7,444 words in one day that *make sense*???

Geez, I can't believe this. I started this novel on Day 8 of November. I've skipped five days since then, a total of 13 days with NO writing at all on this particular novel.

Holy cripes, I'm basically writing 50k words in two weeks.

Pep Card: Day 30 )

And because the kit is uber helpful and geared towards doing the month-long novel at any time of the year, there is a final card for the months with 31 days. Here it is, in all its glory:

Pep Card: Day 31 )

Congrats to all those that finished, and - most importantly! - to all those that tried. See you in 2008!

Well, I won too. :) Actually, I hit 50,000 words on the 20th, but I was far from being done with the story. I finally finished the rest of the story today, and I'm really pleased with how it came out. :) I finished about an hour ago at a lovely 59,392 words.

I played and won last year too (and again in January) but this was the first time I feel my story had enough plot to it to not need ridiculous amounts of filler. :) (In other words, I'm really happy and proud of this one.)

So congrats to other winners and good luck to whoever's still frantically writing, and hooray to anyone who may not have won this year but was brave enough to play anyway. :)

i got my novel verified an hour or two ago. (:
i finished with 50,005 [50,060 according to the counter on the site].
this year, i:

-got a cold and lost half of my voice
-skipped a day or two as a result of that cold
-slacked on my word count for a few more days
-became 8K behind
-wrote 8K in two days and got caught up
-won!!

congratulations to everyone that won and good luck to those who are close - you can do it!

I feel so good having completed it.

The Celebration
I sat in front of a uni printer and printed the novel off (didn't even edit one tiny bit) and trotted off to a near by shop with it. I got the novel bound.

It will of course be edited and added to and what not but I wanted an exact version of what I can do in 30 days

Tomorrow I am going to visit Hexham Abbey whose night stairs gave me the inspiration for the novel and try and praise every single stone of the building

HEE! :D

This girl.
Finally.

My AP Lit teacher is going to be so excited. She's been letting me skip out on assignments to work on my NaNo.

I actually left school after two classes so that I could go home and write.

With two and a half hours to spare, I finished! I'm ever prouder of myself than last year. Last year I was on top or ahead everyday, but this year, I was around 21,000 words on Wednesday the 21st (last week). And I didn't write hardly at all over Thanksgiving break. So this week alone (and I had a presentation on Monday and paper due Tuesday for university), I wrote 29,000 words. Wow. I'm floored by myself. I hope I don't sound braggy, I just want to remember my triumph. )

WINNER.

Completed this morning at 1 a.m.
It could not have been done without the community to make me laugh, the sprint room to keep me motivated, and my sheer determination that this would be my test run for college in Jan--if I can do 50k in a month with a job and 2 kids, I can do college again too. WHOOOO.

Congrats to everyone who is done!!
And good luck to everyone rushing to finish before midnight!! You can totally do it!
