My enthusiasm for NaNo is waning and I need a jolt! I am currently at 25,262 words and for the first time, NaNo is not feeling like the FUN EVENT it has in the past. I feel this way mostly due to the fact when I attend my local Write-Ins, I am the only one there. Kinda depressing.

I could check out the NaNo Forums, but honestly, forums were never really my gig and they are uber time consuming. The other Write-Ins are too far way for me to attend, especially on a work night.

So, I miss the sense of camaraderie of struggling along side other NaNo'ers.

I am open to links, ideas, suggestions on how to rekindle my love for NaNo so I can finish this year.

Muchas thankas.

For those of you wanting to get in some sprinting today.

Where: AIM room amnanosprints
When: 8:30am Mountain time (10:30am Eastern) to 4pm Mountain time (6pm eastern).
Contact: zheyrryhn on aim if you can't get into the room.

We sprint in 15 and 30 minute blocks throughout the day. If we're silent, we're sprinting. You can still PM me during a sprint if you have questions. I finished my NaNo novel so I'm glad to help out. If you're stalled on your plot come talk to me. Maybe I can help.

See you there!

To use contractions or not use contractions.... I find myself using them to save me time in writing, but is that a no-no? I mean, it will definitely effect my word count their use, but I was thinking more along the lines of just in general.

Help?

Like my word count, I am woefully behind. Life is really being a pain in the butt this year, but I'm not giving up hope just yet.

Day 16 )
Day 17 )
Day 18 )

Day 19: One of the nicest side effects of huge creative challenges llike a monthlong novel is the way it breaks routine, altering the overly familiar time-tables of our daily lives. As you head toward the fourth week of the escapade, you've likely created a host of new schedules and routines to help cram writing time into your busy life. As a result, your characters have come to expect a visit from you at certain times.

Your mission for the next twp days: sneak attack. If you've been writing early in the morning, sleep late and hold a midnight session. Night owls should become afternoon owls. Leverage the potential of change to catch your book off-guard and inject energy into your story.

Today's flashcards from the No Plot? No Problem! writing kit, the genius brainchild of Chris Baty.

AIM ROOM: nanosprints
TIME:8pm EST/7pm CST/6pm MST/5pm PST UNTIL 1am EST/12am CST/11pm MST/10pm PST
WHAT: NaNo sprints! Write as many words as you can during the allotted time, and see how many words other people can manage.

Come and sprint in 10 minute bursts, at the :10, :30 & :50. There will be a 10 minute break between each sprint. That works out to be 30 minutes of sprinting for every hour. If you've read this post, please don't ask when the next sprint will be or how long it will run. I will give a two minute warning before each sprint.

I know the schedule might not work for everyone. If that's true for you, explore other options.

Fun fact: it is actually possible to write without sprinting.

Feel free to come in ahead of time and chat to fellow NaNo'ers.

Any questions, AIM me at 'callita623'.

You can invite yourself! All you need to do is in the menu click AIM/Chat/Buddy chat. Put your name there instead and in the place of room name, put nanosprints. Easy!

Rules are same as always:

- Discuss your novel. Ask people for ideas if you're stuck.
- DON'T discuss religion, politics, lifestyle choices.
- Don't tear each other down. Not on plot choice OR word count.

please remember that while the sprints are taking place there will be no talking as it distracts from the 'stop' time. some have their chats set to blink and the blinks take away from knowing when to stop. if you are asked to stop talking, please do so immediately.

Never, ever be the first to talk in the Sprint room. There MAY be a Sprint going on.

Having moved on from my huge loss earlier this week and FINALLY reached the midpoint...

I'm getting paranoid.

See, one of my characters is a German boy from 1448 (in a modern setting). He can speak English, but struggles.

Question 1 : Language )

Question 2 : Fairytales )

Also, how long do you think is an acceptable length for a chapter? 2k? 3k? More?
