nanowrimo_ljI am still trying to choose between a number of ideas I have for novels, which one will I use for Nano!
I have one that's been in development for a long time. I know the plot and the characters very well and have done all kinds of research and pre-writing for it. Basically, it's done in my head I just need to sit down and write it out. I thought I might use this for Nano.
I also have a two ideas ideas that are just sort of floating that I have the basis for the premise and the main character, but don't have anything definite.
I see advantages and disadvantages to both.
On one hand, I see that it might be a great boon to just "free write" with a premise and see where it goes and how it develops as I am writing. I can see how it might be a lot faster to just sit down every day and just say "Ok, where is THIS 1,500 ish going?" It would keep me writing hot and bubble enthusiasm, kind of like a one person RPG. I think it would be harder to write very quickly when I'm trying to work out pre-planned scenes and plot points. I also think that it could be very useful, if I get stuck with this format, to be able to go and add earlier scenes that would provide foreshadowing and lead up to the scenes as they develop until I get stuck, and would even help me get unstuck.
I've even considered writing one of my ideas in a journal format, writing an entry a day for my main character and helping it move along that way.
On the other hand, I fear getting totally lost and having to give up or, god forbid, start over.
