Can abortion be considered a type of surgery? I had an excerpt in my Xanga blog and one of my friends im-ed me saying that he thought abortion isn't a surgery; just a procedure. (I mention both words, "procedure" and "surgery" in my excerpt.)

Any ideas?

(oh and I HATE POETRY with a PASSION...I got an F and an "X" on my first two rough drafts ever...yay me. It's so depressing, not that I ever fooled myself thinking I was a good poet but still....)

I don't know...I'm pretty sure that when they have to go into you and rip something out, that counts as a surgery.

Aside from that, poetry isn't so bad. Just throw all concepts of it out the window, forget about structure, forget about rhyme, forget about anything and write about something you give a damn about. In fact, try writing a character's observances on something as an exercise - say, a character of yours relating a stapler obscurely to some event in her life. It can be fun. I swear.

I'm a poet playing at being a novellist with everyone telling me just how easy it is, so I thought I'd interject with my vice versa.
