It's hard to kill someone you love. Even when they're a character in one of your novels.

The first (and prior to that) murders in the serial killer story I'm doing for NaNo, only the people in the story care about. I didn't much. This one I like so much. I hated writing his murder. But I just now killed him.

I kill my characters off with a certain relish...my best scenes are death scenes. After I write it though, when I write the other characters' grief, my heart just clenches and I can hardly write for the next few days. I plan on killing off a central character...my favorite to write to. It will be splendid. But it will be hard to write after.

Yeah, I'm doing the after now ... it's almost as bad as the killing. He's a very likable character.
