On the other hand, we have proven that the Vikings and possibly the Irish made it to Canada and might have headed south from there, so that's a possibility. Maybe a Norse raider stole it, hung on to it as a good luck charm and made it to Canada. Then when he died, someone stole it from his corpse and one thing led to another with it.
