I'm in my early 30s and have been writing since I was in about the third grade. This is my first year to really attempt NaNoWriMo. My profile on the NaNo page is pbmaxca so if you want to add me as a writing buddy or whatever they are calling it these days...do so... :)

I've done a few other challenges and got great word counts and stories out of them so I thought I'd give it the old college try. I already have a few road blocks that I know are going to be in my path, since November means lots of b-days and a thanksgiving break that might mean I'm out of power and out of a computer...camping in November...who knew?

Anyway my story this year is a romance novel. I've had an idea in my head for almost a year now, but as I'm starting to outline it seems like a horrible story...we'll see if I can figure it all out...sometimes you have to just write things out of order and that may help.

See ya around the LJ!

After some umming and ahing, I thought I'd better be sociable and say hello.

I'm in my mid-twenties, and am a librarian with side order of geek. This year's NaNo is my attempt to break out of fanfic and get some confidence back building my own worlds for a change.

Since I have about 8 fanfic deadlines to meet before NaNo starts, I'll be doing my usual thing of making it up as I go along. If I plan too hard, I freeze, so mostly I'm just playing with ideas and research lines and strange things that occur to me. I suspect the words I produce may follow this pattern.

I once wrote 40,000 words in 6 days, so the word count doesn't really worry me. My biggest fear is losing confidence in the character voice and having the whole thing implode like a bad souffle...

Oooh, that's what I use nano for! I have done it five times, all of them original.

Hoping for a sixth win this year. If I ever get some idea of how to end it.

Best of luck!

Wow! That's a great record!

I'm mildly terrified about venturing out of my nice, safe fanfic world, but I have a sort of 'now or never' feeling about it.

Thanks!

It's scary. I wrote fanfic for 20 years before I ventured out - and I'll admit, two of the original stories were reworked fanfics, turned into original stories - both ideas I'd wanted to write for years.

I also use NaNo as a mini-vacation from fanfic, but I'm mostly commenting as an excuse to use this icon :)

I'm in my early 40's. This is my first NaNo. I heard about it a couple of years ago, and kept thinking "when my job doesn't suck my energy, I'll do that." Then I just gave up and quit my job, and haven't got a new one yet, so *that's* no excuse to not do this.

My story has been with me since I was in high school; time to let it all out and then see if I have the courage to let somebody else see it.

Hey! This is my first NaNo as well. I'm 21 and a student in Florida, and I've been writin since about the third grade. I really need this motivation though. I seem to let fear overcome my love of the craft.

Hello.. I'm a 22 year old uni student from London, UK, and this is my first attempt at NaNo.
I've been writing fiction and poetry since I could basically pick up a pen, that's not to brag but it's true.. it doesn't necessarily mean I'm any good either, but I hope to be one day. I used to be studying towards a degree in English Lit and Creative Writing but I dropped out of that course to do a BA in Journalism.
The novel that I'm writing is a story that has been in gestation for a few years, I'm putting my synopsis up online before November.
I started my livejournal as a writing pad, and a place to store my story since I don't trust any of the computers I use.
As it's my first time, it would be really appreciated if anybody would like to add me to their friends list and be 'writing support buddies'. =3
I'm really interested in other people's novel ideas.

I am a writer at heart, always have been always will be. Of course, I also have the added quirk of being a professional archer. I just got back from Beijing, which was my second Paralympic Games. In Athens I didn't do so well, but this time I got bronze, which was amazing. (You can check out my adventures on my other blog at [livejournal.com profile] ringsandarrows.)

So here's the deal. This will be my third Nano, and I'm not going to write in my favorite genres of fantasy and historical fiction. I'm taking a huge leap of faith and will try my hand at "sports fiction" ...which I suppose must be an actual genre, though you wouldn't know it by my library. This whole venture is bizarre, since I'm not a sports kind of person. Football, baseball, golf, they all make me want to shoot myself in the foot. I hate watching sports unless I know the people playing. I am only an athlete because I love shooting archery. So this is a strange turn of events for me. I just couldn't shake the book idea, though. And besides, if I ever publish it I know it could inspire and influence many lives for the better.

This year's sketchy synopsis:

Two friends and competitive archers are both headed for the Olympics, but they are in a car wreck and one comes out of it with a spinal injury. She goes through years of therapy to regain her strength and ability. Now she is going to the Paralympics at the same time that the other friend makes it to the Olympics. The book will be an exploration of the different experiences each athlete must face and how that strains their relationship, ultimately bringing them closer together and showing them what it really means to be an Olympian.

Wow, an olympic archer?? That's amazingly cool. Sounds like a very unique 'genre' as well. I don't think an Olympic archer has ever written about their experiences before. Definitely it would inspire people.
(By the way I like the ironic use of the phrase 'shoot myself in the foot'..)

This will by first year joining the NaNoWriMo and I am both excited and terrified. My niece is doing it for the second year and I decided to join her. Finding this community here on LJ is just icing on the cake. I need all the motivation I can get. It will be one more thing to help find my confidence to do this.

This is my second NaNoWriMo and I hope it'll be as amazing as last year. It's a bit scary but wonderful all the same. My goal this year is to not only reach the word count (which never seems to be a problem) but also finish the story. This time I'll indulge myself and write a horror story, which no doubt will turn out filled with gay sex, as per usual with my stories. ;3

I created this journal to be used solely for my NaNoWriMo needs. Feel free to friend me if my story theme appeals to you or if you just want to. Also, my username at the NaNoWriMo site is Munanna and you can feel free to add me over there as well. Writing buddies are always fun. ^ ^ (My personal journal here is [livejournal.com profile] munanna)

Also, I'm considering writing in English this year instead of Swedish. I'm not sure what to do about that yet. Since English isn't my first language I'm having serious doubts in my ability to even reach the communicative level of an English twelve-year-old. On the other hand the literary market of horror is almost non-existent in Sweden. Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Second NaNoWriMo and I hope to have as much nerve-wrecking fun as last year xD...i actually can't believe i managed to complete it >D

Well...my aim is probably to write as much as possible, at least 2k words a day...which SHOULD be simple...but you know...after the first couple of days of adrenaline rush, it starts to dwindle D: Oh well, good luck to everyone!

Hello there. I'm attempting Nano for the second year, though last year I wasn't too serious about it and gave up before I finished the first chapter. This year, though, I'm really determined to write a novel, and I'm excited about my plot, though I am equally determined not to plan too much and set restrictions for myself. I don't even have an ending set in stone yet, and I hope not to until I actually get to the ending.

I'm looking for Nanoites to friend because I foresee my LJ becoming at least 99% comprised of Nano ramblings come next month, and I'd love to read about other people's novels, too! Mine is going to be a timeshifting mystery and family drama, if you're wondering.

A bit about me: I'll be 25 in December, I live with my boyfriend a few hours west of Toronto, Canada, and I'm a customer service/sales rep in the preferred guest department of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Hi! Would you like to be LJ-friended? I'm also looking for NaNo buddies and my journal is purely a writing pad which will be comprised of ramblings/excerpts. My book is a post-apocalyptic adventure story.
I'm 22, from London, England and I'm a Journalism student. 'Timeshifting mystery' sounds interesting!

This is my third year in trying NaNoWriMo. I never was able to "win". I am published, so not a complete failure. I am starting a book this week and will be working on it through NaNo. I need to get it done ASAP.

The book is a romantic suspense and my NaNo ID is miriam_in_ga if you wish to "friend" me.

Glad to be here.

This is my second year doing NaNo, last year I has a grand total of 14,000 words. I'm 17 from NJ.

This year, my nano will be about a bunch of college-bound kids as they sort through life and love and all that other wonderful stuff. Loads of fun.

NaNo number.... 5

I've only won once, and what a messed up piece of James Joycian metaphysical bull that was.

I'm 23, and student teaching and for some reason think that that doesn't imply I should take a year off from NaNo.

I've encouraged my AP Lit students to join in the fun. They looked at me like I was crazy.

I usually use a separate lj for nanoing (ardenano) but I don't know if I will this year. We'll see.

My interests: Improv, tabletop gaming, BSG, Star Wars, Twilight, Buffy, various other nerdery.

The pains of student teaching. I have many friends who went through that, and I'm an english education Master's student, but luckily don't have to do the student teaching thing.

Lots of luck, and yay for Twilight and BSG love. If you need any support, feel free to look me up on lj or the nano site (same name).

This is my second nano, but first time in the comm. I decided to stop being shy and post an intro, especially since potential support and writing buddies are made of win.

Hi! I'm Liz, 23, education grad student, spending too much time on my thesis and needing a break. :-) Last year I won with a YA Fantasy about werewolves I edited for the last 10 months and have been trying to get published. This year I am doing a sort of paranormal, historical romance. We'll see how that goes while trying to write a thesis. HA!

Interests outside of Nano: Harry Potter, Twilight, BSG, Stargate, House, Heroes, macs, wii, erotica, fluff, and extreme nerdiness.
