Wow, by Saturday NaNo will have begun and we will be heading into the craziness. Are you ready?

... come on, that was weak. ARE YOU READY?!

*grins* Ok, that was better.

Anyway, here's your plot help post for the week. Simple as always.

Add a comment with the help you need. Don't be shy. We're all writers here, and you never know, someone might give you a new plot bunny to add to your NaNo.

Reply to others and help them. You might be the one holding that bunny.

And just be awesome :)

Any number of interesting disasters can happen as a result of overconfidence. And if he used to do magic, then he should be able to to pick things up a lot faster than an ordinary apprentice. Add to that the desire to grow more powerful, and it would be fairly easy for him to start something he hasn't completely regained control over.

Is that helpful at all?

Cheers!

mmm true - over confidence could lead him to try a spell he saw his teacher use, or one he finds in a book somewhere, and since he has his previous abilities semi-intact, he has the power to make it work, but has not regained the full level of skill to actually make it go right. He could also muck things up with unseen long-lasting consequences eg. the reverberations of a spell keep creating trouble well into the future (kind of like if you build your house poorly, the faults will keep cropping up as other problems for years to come).
I think I need to remember the word "over-confidence" - this might become a key describing word for my character.
(And after writing my question I also realised I can have two plots - the magic apprentice one, and the amnesia one, plan them separately, but have them happen concurrently, thus the intersections provide the conflicts that create a story. Which has really helped create a bit more structure in my head for this story. These plot threads are useful more ways than one!)

Thanks!
