I have sort of a silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer... when you write chapters, and write the words 'Chapter One' or 'Chapter Two', are those words part of your word count, or seperate from it? What if you have chapter titles?

If you wrote them and they're words, they count (my opinion).

IAWTC. I count my "Chapter One" etc. and the title into the word count, seeing as they're in the story after all.

Really? Hm, I didn't know. That it's official, that is. So I can get away with those old-fashioned chapter titles: "Chapter 3: John Sees An Alien in the Backyard and Wonders If He Has Gone Insane; Mary Thinks The Sewing Club Is A Bunch of Nasty Gossipy Ladies and Goes Home; Mary Sees the Aliens Too."

I always considered all words written on the document to be counted in the word count...

And I always spell out any numbers I use... :-D

I add them, as well as Location/Dates (the equivalent of chapter titles in my book.)

I definitely count them. 12 planned chapters = 24 extra words, and that's okay with me!
