Any background information:While Simon is about to do do something against his own knowledge, his sister meets her own angel...

Excerpt:

Waiting at the corner of the building where Simon usually had lunch, he watched, reading the hearts of each passing person, seeking the source of the danger that he could feel tightening around them. They were only mortals, no threat, oblivious beloved little beings who lived their lives with no idea of the broader scope of reality. But none of them were the one he sought, none of them bound to that mechanical that was as much a part of Simon as his arms and legs. Then he saw her. Not the one he sought, but the girl child whose innocence and naiveté continued to beguile him. Unlike her brother, she had little contact with the InBetween. All of that, however, was likely to change very soon.

He fell into step beside her for the first time and asked at once, “Where is your brother?” Realized is presence at once, even before he had finished speaking, she stopped walking to stare at him.

“Simon?” Great. It was just her luck that it was her twin this handsome, exotic stranger was interested in. Everyone always seemed interested in Simon. Eden might as well be invisible. “I don’t know…class I suppose…”.

“His afternoon classes were cancelled.”.

Eden cocked her head with a smirk. “Then you know more than me. I haven’t seen him since this morning.” Usually they met for lunch, if their schedules permitted, but since he was not here yet, she checked her cell phone for messages. “Oh..he’s probably home by now…” she murmured, showing him the phone.

He did not even glance at it. “You must go to him…stop him…”.

“Stop him?” Okay, this guy might be good-looking but she was starting to think he was some sort of psycho stalker.

“He must be careful…he is in great danger…you both are.”.

“Both?” This was getting creepier by the moment. He did not sound crazy; his voice sounded sincere and his body language did not suggest she had anything to fear, but she still did not think she could trust a man who out of the blue declared her brother was in trouble. What sort of nameless danger could he possibly be in.

To appease the stranger, however, and to ease her own conscience because she never would forgive herself if Simon really WAS in trouble, she quickly dialed his phone and waited for him to pick up. His phone was set to ring longer before switching to voicemail than most, because it sometimes took him longer to get to his phone then it might other people. This time he answered it sooner than usual, causing her to breathe a sigh of relief and smile at the redhead as if to say ‘I told you so’.
