Well, according to Word's word count, I'm behind by like 200-300 words, but I found this Word Count Tool online and when I used that, it added about 1500 words to my word count. O.O I just wanted to ask if anyone else has found this/used it and knows if it's relatively accurate compared to the official verification on the official website. Because you know... if I really *am* up 1500 words... *happy dance*

Going by what it says I have on Nano and what the Nano website says I have on Nano, it's about the same. I think. Good luck! Keep writing!

The site validator will typically give you more words than Word does, but not nearly that many (I only gained 41 when I verified), so I would keep going.

I personally keep checking the word counts my writing program (yWriter in this case) gives me against the official NaNo validator as the month passes, just to be sure of where my word count is :) different word count apps and programs can use really different criteria, as you probably noticed, so it's better to keep checking and not get any nasty surprises on the 30th!

google docs gives me an extra 200 words so I always have to make sure I'm ahead. It's typical but the site is the only one that matters in the end.

Because of this post, I actually tried using the Word Count Tool for my novel. I'm writing in LibreOffice and found that Word Count Tool showed that I was almost 9k words LESS than LibreOffice shows. Trying it at NaNo had the word count the same as LibreOffice.

In short, I would definitely make sure to validate.
