I've been behind since somewhere after the first four days of this thing, and it's been an uphill battle the whole time. For fifteen days I wrote less than my 1,667 words, and for eight of those I didn't write at all. As of six days ago, I had twenty thousand words to go.
But I'm done.
It's my first year, and it's been very stressful but very huge for me. I'm a poet by trade, sometimes a fanfiction writer, but I've never managed an effort of originality like this, ever. I was sure I wouldn't be able to do it, because I just can't stand the way I write original stuff. But I pumped out those words, damn it, and some day they'll be a real novel. (I didn't actually finish the novel, nor even make it through nearly any of my plot. But it's like having one big brainstorm to work from.)
Next year I'm probably going to do fanfiction, though; this has been a great experience for me, but I think with a little less stress I could really appreciate the social aspect of this, because you guys are really great, and I've hardly gotten to say two words on here.
Anyway, I'd just like to say to everyone on here: congrats, whether you made it or not. You had the courage to take on something bigger than most will consider.
So, see you next year!
Oh, and I win! w00t!
