I just joined [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo, and what do I see but a series of introductions, so I suppose it's my turn.

I joined LJ back in August, for the purpose of joining [livejournal.com profile] musemuggers_2, for the purpose of honing my writing and finding my voice. I've been working on a Jane Austen fanfic (sequel to Pride and Prejudice) for the last couple of years, which is posted at the Derbyshire Writer's Guild. (It's actually nearly two years since I posted a chapter - when I get writer's block, I get a big case of it!) That one is, however, all done but the final polish and then the shouting - big phew!

I had never heard of NaNo before [livejournal.com profile] dubaiyan mentioned it in her x-posts to DWG, so obviously this is my first time doing NaNo, and I'm a little bit scared. I've started a separate account for the writing, [livejournal.com profile] nanowendybarron, which thus far just has the brave "I'm gonna do it!" post in it. (And which, it occurs to me, I might have been better to post this message from. :-} )

Thus far, my plan is to spend November writing the sequel to my current sequel. (Have I mentioned that I haven't quite found my own writing voice yet?) Anything might change in the meantime. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's snippets, and maybe writing some that are worth reading themselves!

Exercise of the Day - Where you time yourself to write for 5 minutes about the topic of the day. And today's topic is Insomnia. Feel free to post it in your journal and then comment with a link to the entry or just type it out here. =) Good luck! And have fun!

Everyone else is doing it!

My name is Megan, I'm 24, and this is my second year doing NaNo.

Last year I set out to do a "serious" novel that smushed together a skewed version of Cinderella with post-9/11 New York City. I finished, but I haven't even looked at it since December 1st. Heh.

This year I'm planning on doing a detective story based on a character I created for a [livejournal.com profile] musemuggers_2, so it will probably be sillyness delivered in a serious way (think Good Omens). I'm also setting the story in Minneapolis, where I live, for immense ease.

I also have a small batch of writing/NaNo themed icons over here. Feel free to grab. I'll be making more as it gets closer and I (hopefully) have less homework (but please don't take the one I'm using right now).

I've commented here but haven't introduced myself.

So... this is my 2nd year of NaNo. I had the best time last year, ended up finishing my first draft before the end of the month - 75K! I'm anxious for October 1st and for those addictive forums to get unlocked. This year I am writing a fantasy/adventure written from an 11-year-old girl's point of view. I'll be posting exerpts in my writing journal  [profile] the_gorge (it's friends only, but I'll add just about anyone who comments).

I've started doing character sheets and worldbuilding... how about everyone else?
