Ola, Nano newbie typing this. I suppose I'll just indroduce myself. I'm Emily Donovan, 15 year old girl attending Hill Park High School. I've written most of my life, and been comlimented on it for the past three years. I am very protective of my writing, and hoping to get over that.

... I could blab on forever about random facts, butI doubt You'd like to hear that.

Happy writing!

Emily

For those interested (morbidly or otherwise), the NaNoWriMo glossary has been put together, if tentatively. If you have any corrections or more contributions to make, feel free to do so.

The link to the glossary is here, in the nanowrimo forums. I wonder if it would be a good idea to make a separate thread for it, but I won't do so myself... :S

We return you to your scheduled program...

I had a scary dream about NaNoWriMo. In the dream, I'd started writing, and was maybe a page or two into it. Things were going great. Then suddenly (I think someone reminded me, though for the rest of the dream I was alone) I realized that it was still October. I was trying to figure out how (a) I could not get caught and (b) how I could get rid of what I'd written. I couldn't delete it, because in my dream logic it felt like that would still be cheating, because then I'd have already written it and it would make it easier to write come November. So I was trying to figure out how to forget it or how to change my plot so that part wouldn't be in it... it was really scary. I woke up with my heart racing.

Hello!

Currently going through the process of outlining my fanfiction novella.

Tell me, how do you guys keep going through the nitty gritty? The scenes that really aren't any fun, but are essential for things to make sense? And what do you do when what comes out of your pen (or word processor) isn't what you wanted to say at all?

(I usually say that if what comes out is better, I keep it. Usually, it's at least more interesting. But it always screws something else up.)

*sigh* It's not even November yet, and I'm already losing faith.

Help!

Hello...

I'm new to NaNoWriMo - and I'm new to writing novels, unless you count the two or three page stories I thought counted as books when I was eight. I'm determined to juggle writing 50,000 words with school, three bands, a musical, a radio show, a job, family, friends, and various other things.

Now's as good a time as any to take up drinking coffee, right?

Anyway, I'm writing a modern supernatural fantasy with vampires, werewolves, mages, romance, tragedy, and a lot of characters. My only problem is a lack of plot. I have a couple ideas, but no ideas how to lead up to and away from them.

Does anyone have a neat method of doing plot outlines that they could suggest? I might do better if I have some kind of structure to follow.

SCHMOUTLINING!

Everyone seems to be trying to get their plot and their outlines in order.  I would like to do this, but it happens to get me in trouble.

Somewhere in my mind, writing down anything that might or will happen in my story kills the mood.  I basically feel like a timeline, or outline finishes the scene, at least in my head and i lose all desire to pen it.

So until Halloween, i am doing zero thinking on my NaNovel.

Am I crazy?  maybe but who isn't?  especially if you NaNo!

i figured i should go ahead and introduce myself. this is my first year doing nanowrimo, and also my first time sitting down and writing a novel. im going to attempt to do this along with three lit classes, a radio show, and a developmental psych class. should be interesting. i <3 hot chocolate and tea, but havent really gotten into coffee yet.
my novel (im hoping) is probably going to center around some misadventures my friends and i had this past summer and some inside jokes to boot. im not exactly sure how its going to turn out, but im hoping for the best.

end.

I decided to join after seeing the link in a friend's journal. I've had novel ideas for years, but never actually started writing one. It's always a thing I say I'm going to do, that I'm going to do it someday, but never actually start doing it.

Maybe a challenge is what I need and finding this community two weeks before the actual challenge is a little more than coincidence to me. So I'm here. Sign me up. Not that I think I'll actually manage to do it with college and all and my easiness to divert my attention to other stuff.

But I want to try.

Well, here I am thanks to [profile] roseeva, and I know I can do this, but the trick will be can I accomplish it with college going on? I'm such a horrible author, I'm going to start with whatever comes to my head at midnight (which I'll probably be up then anyway) and just fly with it. Either that or formulate an idea without an outline, I don't know...I just know if it gets too solidfied I'll start writing ahead of time, which is cheating and I loathe cheating...

Anyway...how are we going to showcase these anyway? Just show off the best parts? Talk about plot? What?

Perhaps get it published...?

~ Uozumi

PS: Can there be a play contained within the novel? Just out of curiocity...Just an idea I had a year ago, I want to give it a go, but will it get disqualified if it jumps between a novel format and a play?
