There's a mysterious stranger following my MC - a recently retired hitman who is traveling cross-country - and now they are in a car together. My MC wants to know what this shabby stranger wants. He doesn't have a gun, so he's most likely not a cop. A family member of a former victim? I don't know, but this shabby stranger isn't talking.

 Looks like I'm having a point of view crisis.  Okay, yes, I'm a newbee and I could use a little advice or a good resource book or just an understanding ear.  Lack of experience sucks.  First line of the novel : Penny moved her hand back and forth and watched as lights trailed ...  Then later in the novel Penny says "I moved my hand back and forth and watched as lights trailed...   Either this is a bad trip or major deja vu.  I know i'm not supposed to be editing yet but this is troubling me.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that there might be some of you out in LJ-Land who take exception to my posting these cards, as they are not my own words and come from a finely constructed kit to facilitate the insanity of writing 50K novel in a month, regardless of which month it takes place in. As a writer, I can totally respect that view-point. I therefore ask that, if you find these in anyway helpful, you head on over and make a donation to the wonderful folks that bring us NaNo every year. Or, more ideally, pick up the kit itself.

You can purchase it through The Office of Letters and Light, or Canadians can pick it up at Chapters On-line (if it's not available in-store, which it isn't where I'm from), and all my American friends can snag it at Amazon, if you can't pick it up in-store.

So a question

I started out this year with a nice YA novel. I had/have very little in the way of a plot. My characters are sketchy. Anyway, yesterday a new character popped into my head, completely seperate from my Nano world. She doesn't fit in anywhere or I would try to fit her in somewhere.

I'm considering flip flopping back and forth between writing her and writing my YA world. My question is can I count both word counts toward my my single 50,000 goal or does each potential novel need to have it's own word count (ie a goal of 100,000 words)

What do you guys think?

TIME: 1pm PST/2pm MST/3pm CST/4pm EST
- 4pm PST/5pm MST/6pm CST/7pm EST

- 9pm PST/10pm MST/11pm CST/12am EST

WHAT: Just like it sounds, bouts of NaNo Sprints! Come and sprint in 10 minute bursts, the :10, :30, & :50. There will be a 10 minute break between each sprint.

Feel free to come in ahead of time and chat to fellow NaNo'ers.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WHILE THE SPRINTS ARE TAKING PLACE THERE WILL BE NO TALKING AS IT DISTRACTS FROM THE 'STOP' TIME. SOME HAVE THEIR CHATS SET TO BLINK AND THE BLINKS TAKE AWAY FROM KNOWING WHEN TO STOP. Thank you.

You can invite yourself! All you need to do is open your Buddy list. Click 'chat', then clear the list. Put your name there instead and in the place of room name, put nanosprints. Easy Peasy!

- Discuss your novel. Ask people for ideas if you're stuck.
- DON'T discuss religion, politics, lifestyle choices.
- Don't tear each other down. Not on plot choice OR word count.

Never, ever be the first to talk in the Sprint room. There MAY be a Sprint going on. :)
