Regardless of where you are we now have less than 48 hours until the official start of NaNoWriMo.

It is officially panic crunch time.

Are you ready? What type of last minute preparations are you doing? (if any)

Better yet, what type of shiny things have you found to help you procrastinate getting ready? Have you spent hours that were meant to be for plotting cruising tvtropes? Get online intending to research and plot but instead went on omegle to troll strangers? Or have you just sat down to start planning when... oh man... you suddenly feel so hungry and snackish that you have the odd desire to bake a cake!

In years past, some lovely wonderful person has posted an Excel document in this community that keeps track of word counts and whatnot - Does anyone know if that has been updated for this year and where it can be found?

EDIT: I found it on the Forums after I posted this, because apparently the first time I looked I couldn't read (ha). If anyone else wants a report card or tracker type thing, the forum posting is here with a lot of different options: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3710975

Also, the specific report card I was referring to is here, along with a bunch of other things: http://www.truckpoetry.net/search/label/NaNoWriMo%20Author%20Resources

I've downloaded the Scrivener beta for Windows and plan to give it a try, but I'm a Word girl and having a tough time figuring out how to make the most of Scrivener's tools. Does anyone have any tips on how to use it to the best effect during NaNo?

Hi guys! As most of you know, NaNo is literally just right around the corner. Actually, it's one day from now, which is even closer than some of us could even imagine. It's usually at this point that one might be freaking out over how they're going to get their word count in. 50K isn't easy and doing it in 30 days is slightly insane.

However, many of us NaNoers have relied on sprints to help us get our word counts up and keep us insane during the month of self imposed isolation!

This year, [livejournal.com profile] allyear_sprints is sponsoring the official sprints of the [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo community!

What does that mean? How do I sign up? What is a sprint? When do they start? Well all your questions and more will be answered under the cut.

Greetings everyone! It's time for NaNo! Can you believe it starts in just a day? Well at [livejournal.com profile] allyear_sprints we've been planning our sprint schedule. If you don't know what a sprint it, it's a timed period of writing. We have our sprint rules written up here.

We host all of our sprints on AIM Chat. If you need help getting into a room or don't know how to work AIM or your various program for group chats, check out here.

Below is a schedule for the first week! We'll start off with a kick off Nano Party tomorrow night @ October 31 at 11pm EST. The room will be NanoPartySprints on AIM. The party will go until November 1 at 11pm EST! It's 24 hours of sprinting! You won't want to miss it.

For the rest of November the rooms will always be as follows:

NaNoDaySprints 8am - 7pm EST
NaNoEveningSprints 8-11 pm EST
NaNoIntoTheNight 11pm - 2 am EST
NocturnalNaNo 2-5 am EST
NaNoPlotting - non sprintting general write chat. This room is open 24/7 and is completely unmoderated. Feel free to use anytime.

AIM ONLY ALLOWS 35 PEOPLE IN A ROOM AT A TIME. IF YOU GET A MESSAGE THAT A ROOM IS FULL, AND YOU WILL GET THIS MESSAGE DURING NANO, PLEASE ADD A 2 TO THE END OF WHATEVER ROOM YOU'RE TRYING TO ENTER. IF THAT ROOM IS FULL, ADD A 3 AND SO ON AND SO ON.

SO IF YOU'RE TRYING TO GET INTO
NaNoEveningSprints AND IT COMES UP FULL, TRY NaNoEveningSprints2 OR NaNoEveningSprints3 ETC. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, JUST ASK.
