Hi, all. I've been a member for a while, but not watching.

I tried doing it last year, but wound up not finishing. Since I hate to do that to a good book, I'm now trying to finish the rest of the story (in however many words it takes, which may or may not be the entire 50,000) before the start time.

I've got another story lined up for this year, but I just don't feel right about leaving Randy, Alia, Drew, and Chuck hanging while I pay attention to Beatrice and Ben.

In summary: AAAAAAIIIIGH! *runs around in circles, tears hair*

Just take Randy, Alia, Drew, and Chuck aside, sit them down and have a good long talk with them. Tell them that just because you will be spending time with Beatrice and Ben, it does not mean that you are rejecting them or forgetting them. Tell them you love them and want them around, but you just need some time away to work on other things, and that you promise to come back and continue the relationship at a later time.

And if they chose to not be understanding about this . . . lock them out of the house until you are ready to let them back in.

Well, if you put it that way . . . I was making this suggestion on the assumption that your characters were mature adults. Sorry.

My story from last year is unfinished. I understand how you feel, they're just sitting out there, trapped in danger, ready to save the world. That's no way for even a fictional character to live! Sometime I must write them a future.
