"He" is actually a "She" (... really, it makes sense, in my head), and I am so working the failed villian into my story. Because I have an image of it now, and it's itching to be written. Thanks!

Ooh, ooh! Who HATES Black, Red and other "Dark Lord" colors and probably just wants to retire to some quiet little garden to develop a new type of peony that glows in the dark.

But even with all of this, the villain should have a reason to BE a villain. Revenge is overdone, as is power, but maybe villainy is an intellectual pursuit?
