Hi everyone! I'm Sam, and I'm writing a young adult novel about a girl who gets amnesia and how her archenemy takes advantage of that fact. I'm kind of excited for November to come, but I'm also really nervous, because the last two times I've tried NaNo, I failed utterly. The only time I ever won was a fluke, when I didn't have anything else going on in my life. Hopefully I can get through it, though!

Hey!

I'm Lisa - I'm writing an UrbanFantasy novel about two girls who discover their souls were swapped at birth, leaving them to grow up in very different circumstances. I've been writing since I could hold a pen, and telling stories since I could talk (though they've got a bit better since then). My first story was about a lemure called Lottie who got stuck up a tree, and that was me hooked on writing for good.
Good luck everyone!

Thankyou! XD I really hope to complete this one, I've got a whole bunch of ideas. I'll be sure to post some exercpts as soon as November starts.

Hey there! My name is Julia. This is my first time doing NaNo, and I'm going to be writing a crime/suspense drama in which a 16 year old girl is abducted/murdered in a small town. The story is going to center mostly on the detective working the case.

I'm definitely not as prepared as I should be, but I've been having so much fun in the past few days coming up with characters. I'm not a writer per se, as I haven't written much, but I've always wanted to and that's the reason I'm so excited to do NaNo.

Hello! My name is Deanna Dee! This is my fourth time doing NaNo. I failed the other three times, so I'm hoping I have better luck this year.

I have a couple ideas brewing and mainly decided on one. My main idea is about a brother and sister escaping their relatives home, following their neighbors(who cared for them more than their relatives). It will eventually become gay erotica, but much much later.

My other ideas are all supernatural stuff. Both dealing with aliens. One is an apocalyptic fiction where the world ends in 2012(haha), and aliens end up saving the earth right before it's complete destruction, but bring us into another hell by turning the survivors into their slaves.

The other one doesn't have a basic plot...

All of my fiction has romance in it *romance junkie*

Hey there, everyone. I'm Kiya, and I'm doing my third NaNo (won my first two). I skipped last year due to work/school overload, but I'm out of school now, and figure it's time to tackle it again.

This year, I'll be writing a gaslight fantasy novella. My characters are based on (though not the same as) mythological creatures from all over the world (fauns, nagas, satyrs, harpies, Native American spirit-gods, tengu, mermaids, werewolves, etc), but the setting is more akin to what one would expect to find in Steampunk fiction. The plot features things like clandestine societies that are working to take over the country in which the novel is set, both heterosexual and homosexual romances and romantic pairings (with SEX - I'm not shy), some very nastily leaking rifts in the matrix of reality, an oracle who just doesn't exist from the hips down, and the occasional vision-induced seizure. Also, some soldiers and lots and lots of guns and fighting.

The title will be The Precognist: or, The Society for the Invigoration of the Commonwealth. I have a not-yet completed webpage (http://kiyakotari.com/NEW/STEAM/steamindex.html) set up for it. I also collect ABJD (Massively Expensive Asian Dolls), and have been very slowly acquiring the main characters of the story as dolls for the last ten months or so.

That sound really interesting! *bookmarks webpage* I've never actually read any gaslight fantasy before, but the concept sounds extremely interesting :) I'm sure I'll be following anything you put up. Good luck!

Gaslight fantasy is loads of fun. I've seen it approached in many different ways. I've also seen some people use the term "weird fiction" to describe similar work, and many Steampunk novels that incorporate strong fantasy themes and characters could be called Gaslight Fantasy instead.

I'm not sure how much of my writing I'll put up on the website, since I plan on refining and publishing this work eventually, but I'll probably put at least a few excerpts up there.

Hi! I am Ciuva, I am participating in NaNoWriMo for the third time. I've yet to win, and it doesn't really look like this will be the year either. I've hardly got any time to write this year, with schoolwork, work and various other things. Besides I have absolutely no idea what to write about. It will be fantasy, that's all I know. I'm thinking of writing a novel based on the history of the world in which my main novel project takes place; writing of the events that had a strong impact on what happened later.

The funny thing is that despite these things I am super-motivated and actually believe that I have a chance of succeeding this year. I am in any case really, really looking forward to it!

Hello there! My name is Lisa, and this is my third shot at NaNo. I've not yet been successful, but I think environmental factors are going to work in my favour this time (i.e. when I was in college, NaNo came right after Midterm Death, and in the middle of the seasonal temperature mood swings that made my tendinitis flare pretty badly, but now I live in SoCal, so no more temperature wackiness!).

I'm writing a superhero story this year, about a super soldier who escapes from the hydroelectric plant in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and flees south. He ends up at a camp that's out of the way of pretty much everything ever, and he holes up and hides in the city even as he has to figure out his powers (which he doesn't really have a grasp on) and who he is (which he has no memory of). There will be a climactic battle on the Mackinac Bridge, in the snow, and hopefully it will be EPIC.

Oh, and I've been unemployed, but I'm starting my old job back up on 11/2. And of course, I got hired back for the insane crunch time portion of the production, so I will be working ridiculous hours. And noveling. Yeah, it's going to be interesting, all right. :p

Hi, I'm Louisa. I am participating in Nano for the first time this year. I have been cheering various friends on the last few years, but have never had time to participate myself. I don't really have time this year, but am going to give it my best shot.

I am planning ahead by working 11 and 12 hour days so I can try and avoid too much overtime in November. I have also booked a week off of work for the third week of the month, though my family is helpfully adding other commitments to my week without bothering to tell me, so how much writing time I end up with then is currently open for debate. I am going to have to fight for every minute of "novel time".

I am writing a fantasy novel about a merfolk community in modern times. The plot centres around twin sons who are born to a mermaid and a human man. One is born with fins and cannot grow legs on land, the other is born with legs and cannot grow fins in the water. When they reach adulthood they each get the ability to transform for the first time, which is where the story begins.

I probably won't be posting any of it online and it is doubtful the novel will be finished in the month - I have a tendency to go rather epic with my stories when it comes to length - but I am really going to try to at least hit the 50k mark by the deadline, and thus have a really good start to the story down on "paper".

Anyway, before this becomes as long and waffling as my stories let me just wish everyone participating good luck and then slink off back into lurk mode again.

Hi, I'm Sophia. This is my first time trying NaNo -- I wanted to sign up last year, but managed to psych myself out of it. I'm worried about midterms/college-y stuff and am having some issues with a friend, but with luck and a bit of drive I should be able to balance that and NaNo.

I'm writing an urban fantasy story centered around four secret societies who have their fingers/claws/tentacles in just about every pie. The story mostly focuses on a special forces squad in the military arm of one of the societies, the Templar, and will follow them as their main society experiences a catastrophic schism, the existence of the societies and their members is revealed to the outside world, and through a supernatural war of international proportions.

I'll be using a ton of modern interpretations of legends/fairytales/mythologies, and I'll put up an explanation somewhere for why they've changed forms since their original incarnations. There will be a lot of action and fighting, possibly romance and sex, a lot of crazy creatures running amok, mass panic, and some wildly different characters.

...eek. It's pretty ambitious of me, but I'm going to at least crank out as many words as I can, even if I don't win.

Hi, my name is Mitch and this is my first NaNo.

I'm not exactly sure what I'll be writing but I know it will be an adventure story in the desert with trains, gypsies, armies, horses, guns, whiskey, nomads, beggars, noblemen, scoundrels, a damsel in distress who is neither a damsel nor in distress, and wide-brimmed hats.

Other than that, I have no idea what's going to happen.

Hi, I'm Safia, and this ismy first time taking part in NaNoWriMo. I only came up with a plot idea a couple of hours ago, so hopefully it will stick and I won't get bored. It's a sort of sci-fi romance novel, set on a future world, ruled by a slightly corrupted government. The main character is sent in as a spy to try and find out the extent of the corrupted-ness (my vocab will need to improve for me to complete this...) and whilst there she falls in love. Cliched? I hope not.
Anyway, bye for now.

Hello, I'm Joyce, and I have no idea what I'm going to write.

I have a couple of characters who completely lack a plot and so would probably do well in literary fiction. There's a chick-lit plot bunny that won't leave me alone, but I wouldn't read it, so I'm not sure I'll ever write it. I have a sort of steampunk western thing that's been slowly developing for about two years but I'm not sure I want to commit to for the month, and then there's horror/urban fantasy. I think it'd be a blast to write, I like to read (and watch it) but I've got nothing for it.

So, in short, I'm here as an excuse for my caffeine addiction.

Hey, I'm Jade and this is my third time NaNo-ing.
I have no idea at all about what I'm writing, and I'm actually aiming for 150k this year, so I reckon I'm pretty much screwed. I'm contemplating re-writing some of my characters within NaNo as a lot of them stopped getting actual character developent after I passed fourteen... which was years ago, and thus, makes me sad.
Plus, I have exams next month, yay, NaNo and exams again D:
Good luck to everyone though! :)

Hi, I'm Rosa. This is my first time participating in NaNoWriMo. I say I am going to participate every year, but I am serious about it this year. I have several story ideas that I want to develop. This coming week, I am going to figure out which one I want to focus on.

Introduction time; I'm Axel, a perpetually uncreative and artistically burned-out..humanish-thing..attempting NaNo again. This year, I think I'm writing about an epic sword and sorcery/urban fantasy taking place somewhere in Canada after the real world and Faerie get all smushed together. If..I can ever figure out what exactly the plot is.

Hi, My name is Meliss and this is my third year competing, although my world usually falls apart two weeks in. But this year just feels different. I know what I want to write(urban fantasy), I have a shinny new lap top, and all of keanes music.

I'm in Cali, and will prob. be going to the North OC write up meet ups.

Hello All!

2009 is my first year participating in NaNoWriMo and I am really looking forward to it. I started planning my novel today & I am having to stop myself from starting to write.

It is going to be a realistic story about a school closing in a dying country town, which puts me in a different genre to most of the writers I have seen.

Good Luck to everyone

Hi folks!

My name's Nicola, and I have absolutely no ideas for this year yet :-(

I just had emergency surgery and I'm recovering and on morpheine, so trying to think of things is really difficult.
I'm getting a bit worried, but I'm determined to take part!

I'm really stuck though; I have nothing. I've sat and thought today and tried to come up with things, but nothing.
