Damnit!

I started writing nearly straight away - got quite a few words done then ANOTHER plot came into my head - so unbelievably hard that I can't focus on the one I started with.

Now I don't know whether to go back and try to get on with the original, work on the new one or work on both?

Anyone else been in this situation before? D:

Lol, it looks like about one person per day has this happen.

The general consensus is to NOT DELETE the first plot. Use strike-through on it, italicize it, or change the font color to white (thanks Chris Baty). Then keep writing whatever strikes your fancy, the new plot or the old one.

Is there any way that the two plots can be combined into one story?

You could switch back and forth between both plots whenever you get stuck.

Or could they both be put into the same world, and then converge at some point?

I agree with the converging idea. That's the only way I've been able to stick to my plot so far!

But if you can't try switching back and forth, just don't delete what you have so far for your other plot! But it may be best to go with what excites you more as writer, as it will motivate you more.

Sorry I'm not much help. :)
