So I'm really interested in the MBTI personality stuff, and I was wondering, what personality types do your main characters have? To look more in-depth into it, this website has a pretty good description of the different types, as well as a test. Also, if you know your own personality type, how does it relate to those of your characters? Do you tend to have more characters with the same as you, or complete opposites? I'd just love to see some good discussion out of all this :)

Generally I have one character that reminds me a little of myself, but who else do I know better? More of my characters are different, but for some reason all my books have one angsty guy with a red shirt - I just noticed this. |D

I guess overall I have a good diversity of characters, but there are a few archetypes I lean on a lot. :/

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.

I just start from the beginning of one character's history and work from there. Say that Event 1 happens. Before Event 1 my character has personality traits A, B, and C. After Event 1 this character no longer holds personality trait A, but trait B is stronger, and C is still around but a lot weaker and less important. The character also gained trait D due to Event 1.

Sorta make sense? It's hard to explain without specifics. But that's always the best way in my head. ALSO! Some people are just born with a certain trait. Like my cat has never shut up since Day 1. She's the most talkative little annoying cute furball I've ever seen. If she wasn't cute I'd disown her. :| But I highly doubt my cat exactly gained that trait to her personality because of a historical event in her life, since I've been here the whole time for her and she's just... loud.

I know my main character's enneagram type! She is a six!

I guess her MBTI would be ISFP, after looking at the website.

I realized that while my characters all have different types, they, like me, all start with an I. Extroverted people kind of freak me out. I'd have trouble getting into their heads believably for a whole novel, which probably makes me a pretty limited writer, but I'm not too interested in them anyway, so it works out.

Mine are too psychotic to do personality tests and most of them are aliens.

I also hate these personality tests as they have false dichotomies such as: 'I consider myself to be a) social or b) private.' I can't abide people who won't reveal information, I am paranoid they're hiding important things like someone is talking about me or planning an event and not inviting me, but then I'm not particularly social either. And 'I value a) justice b) mercy.' Any legal system without both would really, really suck.
