So, umm, I was really going on my novel but then a few days ago I just ran out of physical steam. I still have plenty of plot left, I love my characters and whatnot, I just got distracted by life and ran out of steam. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to give myself the kick I need? *BIG sigh*

I have the community back in my hot little hands...

Thank you all who helped contact the Abuse Team, as well as spread the word to the community members on other NaNo LJ sites.

I need to run a quick maintenance rundown and see what happened while I was gone, and I will get the daily threads up ASAP.

And the offender has been banned from LJ by the admins, and this shall hopefully not happen again.

Got a problem in your NaNo? Who doesn't?! But we've got a way to help!

Post here with your plot problems, and all through the week members of the community will scan through and see if they can help.

AKA - The best way to procrastinate is to help others!

So post your problem. Then take a moment to look at everyone else's and see if you can help them.

People helping people. That's what makes this community great :)

So have at it!

So, in light that we have been put into the LJ Spotlight for this week, I decided to post one more Daily Intro Post so that all our wonderful new members can have a place to introduce themselves!

So welcome to the community! Reply here and introduce yourself to everyone else. And I hope you have a great time.

also - if this is your first time here, take a moment to look at the following:

2008 Community Rules - read them if you haven't, and please don't post until you have. It makes us all happy, and keeps the ninja squirrels from attacking needlessly.

2008 NaNo LJ'er Regional Friending Thread!

2008 Pimp and Post Thread - talk about your projects here!

Weekly Plot Help Threads - help your fellow community members with their plots!

Daily Word Count Posts - This is where you post your word counts (except your 50K accomplishment, which you get to shout to the world in it's own post for 5 minutes of fame and glory!)

Daily Excerpts - This is where you post snippets from your NaNo to share with everyone. But keep it within the limits!

all these links are available on the profile page as well as the sidebar links in the community in case you ever need to find them.

EDIT: Talking to support now about recovering the Pimp Thread and the Regional Friends thread. Keep your fingers crossed.

OK... so far I think I've gotten most of the hacker kinks out of the way. I just learned about the moderated queue and went through and cleared that out. Whew. Reminds me why I don't run with a queue here LOL.

Also, you should be able to post again. If you tried today and couldn't, it's working now.

note: ANYONE WHO CLICKED ON THAT LINK FROM THE HACKER, RUN A VIRUS SCAN ON YOUR COMPUTER. Seriously. Better safe than sorry.

I've sent a request to Support about trying to get the regional thread and the pimping thread back as the hacker deleted them both. Keep your fingers crossed.

Also, our profile has gone MIA, so I will rebuild it tonight.

I need a hug... and cookies... and a hot cowboy to give me a backrub while I do all this...

Wow, with the drama of earlier, I'm glad I didn't try and post today's card. The inability to post woul dhave irritated me to no end, and at a time when such irritation would have been most unhelpful.

So here we go!

A friend of mine, who is an EMT, says that people at restaurants choke more often than you imagine. According to him, the real danger isn't the choking, it's the bathroom. Because the moment people get a chicken wing lodged in their throats, they do a curious thing: They use the last of their oxygen to politely remove themselve to the bathroom, far away from anyone who might be able to help Heimlich it out.

If at any point you start having difficulty with your novel, the worst thing you can do is suffer silently. Complain in great detail to your support team and anyone else who will listen.

Curse your characters and their mothers. Crumple up this card and hurl it in the trash. Let the frustration out. You'll be surprised at how much clearer your writing vision is after a good venting.

Today's flashcard from the No Plot? No Problem! writing kit, the genius brainchild of Chris Baty.

...I know you're not supposed to refer to it as the Heimlich Manouver anymore, so you can tell how long ago these cards were written. (For the record, they're now to be called 'abdominal thrusts', according to the nice man who re-certified me for emergency first-aid and CPR two months ago.)

Just an FYI :)

And for the record? I vent my frustrations by taking them out on my protagonist. I managed to make her cry by novel's end last year. I'm mean ^.^

I hope this is okay to post here. :)

I thought it might be a good idea to set up a AIM Chat Room for people in the UK or GMT time (or any other time zones close to it). America's quite a bit ahead of us and some of the word wars I've seen advertised on Livejournal run from about 2AM to 4AM our time, which is a bit late.

I was thinking that it could be open could on:

Weekdays: 5PM-9PM ish
Weekends: 5PM-12AM+ ish (depending on interest)

If anybody's interested the room is ukwordwars. If you want to join then you can invite yourself by using the Buddy Chat option and putting in the name of the room as well as your own name. Alternatively, my AIM is Castiel11 if you want to be invited or just be friends. I'm always looking for new buddies. :)

(Also posted on my journal)

I have been trying out an app someone on one of the Nano boards mentioned today in my region, and it really, Really rocks. Here's the site:

http://lab.drwicked.com/writeordie.html

Be sure to watch the youtube demo. Wee Hob got quite a kick out of it.

Shame I can't make one for his little writing notebook. I better go get him back on task now. I will note one of the things I like about this app is finding out how little time it really takes to get those words to really add up. Especially if quality (or lack therof) is no obstacle.

So me and my friend are planning on doing a word war - if anyone has MSN and wants to participate, feel free to comment. :]

*BTW, if this isn't allowed, feel free to delete.

I don't have the problem of wanting to do other things rather than writing my NaNo--I have the problem of having other things I should be doing (in this case, homework and the like) and wanting to write instead.

For those of you that have done it before or could have some useful advice, how do you go about balancing schoolwork/work in general with finding time to write? My characters are looking much more appealing than my lab writeup and that is Very Bad.
