Hi, I was wondering if NaNoWriMo has to be one (relatively) continuous plotline, or if't just kinda *supposed* to be, but you can include other stuff?

I was wondering cause I sat down and wrote a story (fanfiction) last night which is in the same fandom as my nanofic, but takes place in a completely seperate timeline, way too far in the future for it to fit into my NaNofic, and different characters. But both it and my NaNoWriMo fic take place in the "Transformers" univers. (like I said before, I'm writing fanfiction for WriMo.) Can I still include it as NaNoWriMo fiction, or does it have to be somewhere in the time span of the story I'm writing for WriMo?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm working on a Doctor Who/Eva fic and managing to stick to the plot so far, but if I get stuck my plan is to write a 'season teaser trailer' and write out scenes for the ideas I have in mind for future parts of the story.

Either that, or I'll be inserting flashbacks to earlier points in Asuka and Shinji's lives prior to meeting the Doctor, which will have some bearing on events in the present.

Both methods are at least a way to keep me writing and adding to my word count, while still remaining on topic at the same time. If, in the long run, it turns out to be unnecessary to the fic as a whole, then I can edit in December. ;)
